Thermodynamics Lab

The field of thermal engineering includes a lot of applications that can be classified as the combination of thermodynamics and heat transfer, such as IC engines, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. The objective of this laboratory is to provide the student a good environment to understand concepts and applications in the field of thermal engineering. Considering all these aspects, this lab is well equipped with experimental setups and necessary facilities for performing the experiments. The aim of this lab is to impart practical training in the field of I.C. Engine and Thermal Engineering.

Metallurgy Lab

The properties of a material depend to a large extent on the type, number, amount, and form of phases present, and can be changed by altering these quantities. By microscopic examination, it is possible to determine grain size and the distribution of various phases and inclusions. This laboratory makes the student to prepare and observe the microstructure of pure metals like Copper and alloys like Mild Steel, Brass, etc. It makes familiar with mounting of the specimens for microscopic examination. Jominy End-Quench test to measure the harden ability of steels is also provided.

Theory of Machine Lab

Mechanical engineering systems invariably consist of moving parts. With ever increasing emphasis on high speed machines (for higher productivity), effects of accelerating/decelerating moving masses plays a significant role. The lab equipments aims to equip the student with fundamental knowledge of dynamics of machines so that he can appreciate problems of dynamic force balance, transmissibility of forces, and isolation of systems, vibrations, instrumentation and standards. Thus impart practical knowledge on design and analysis of mechanisms, forces, and dynamics of machine can well understood by conducting the experiments on equipments available in this lab. The lab also contains equipments both in the form of working and non-working models through which the students are able to synergies theory and practical skills.

Software Lab

Reducing costs, compressing development cycles, and creating innovative products are major challenges facing manufacturers today. To gain a competitive edge, manufacturers must look beyond commodity technologies, isolated tasks, individual efficiency, and point solutions to address the broader issues of product lifecycle productivity. CAD/CAM and its tools empower companies to design, simulate, and manufacture products in an integrated environment.Design drawings allow viewers to visualize a machine or its components before it is manufactured. In the current industrial trend CAD modeling is an imperative skill expected from all Mechanical engineers. Students practice the development of 3D drawings of machine components and perform virtual assembly. ANSYS is useful analysis of any design and structure. MATLAB is useful for solution of any Numerical Method with Solvers. Thus student’s gets practical exposure on these software license tools available in lab as per the curriculum of syllabus.

Heat transfer Lab

The heat transfer lab is well equipped with the set-ups for the experiments as per the university syllabus. Based on existing facilities in heat transfer lab, the students are encouraged to perform their task in group during the conduction of experiments. The objective of this laboratory is to provide the student a good environment to understand basic concepts and applications of Heat Transfer. These concepts are necessary to understand how the typical Heat transfer processes takes place.

Nowadays heat transfer is most important course for almost all the branches of engineering.   The field of heat transfer has lot of applications such as IC Engines, air conditioning and refrigeration systems etc.

Metrology & Quality Control Lab

MQC lab is useful for engineering students to provide about different aspects of measurement. An over view of calibration has been dealt thoroughly and its importance is emphasized. Various types of instruments are being used and their accuracy has ascertained with the help of standards like slip blocks and sine bar. The measurement and checking are one of the major features of this laboratory. Thus MQC lab provides the students an active learning environment for the measurement technologies used in production engineering field.

Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Lab

Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Laboratory focuses on multidisciplinary academic and research work related to thermal comfort in building design, design and optimization of cooling and heating systems.  The lab concentrates on obtaining property/heat transfer data of refrigerants and is actively involved in aiding the local refrigeration and air-conditioning industry with the application and development of new refrigeration systems.

Refrigeration lab provides information about carnot cycle, vapour compression, vapour absorption cycle. It also gives information of types of air conditioners, cold storage plants, types of fans, blowers, various refrigerants used in refrigerators. The equipments in lab are useful to students of recognize the core concept in Refrigeration and Air conditioning. The experiments are performed as per the syllabus.

Turbo Machinery Lab

The Turbo machinery Laboratory conducts basic and applied research into important problems of reliability and performance of turbo machinery — rotating machinery that extracts or adds energy to fluids. Turbo machinery, in mechanical engineering, describes machines that transfer energy between a rotor and a fluid, including both turbines and compressors. While a turbine transfers energy from a fluid to a rotor, a compressor transfers energy from a rotor to a fluid. The two types of machines are governed by the same basic relationships including Newton’s second Law of Motion and Euler’s energy equation for compressible fluids.

The Mechatronics Lab is used to learn and its use in microcontrollers and programmable logic devices (PLCs) for intelligent control of mechanical and electromechanical devices and systems.
